What are T Levels?

T Levels are a technical-based qualification that combine dynamic classroom-based learning with hands-on experience in a professional workplace. Leading businesses and employers helped design T Levels to give young people the knowledge and experience they believe is required to prepare students for working life.

Who can study T Levels?

T Levels are a 2-year qualification aimed at 16–19-year-olds and are an alternative to the traditional A levels, apprenticeships, or vocational qualifications.

What T Levels can you study?

Here at Middlesbrough College, we offer a range of T Levels, and we are expanding our offerings over the next few years!

The courses on offer include Business and Law, Catering, Childcare, Construction, Digital, Engineering, Hair and Beauty, Health, and Science.

How does a T Level course work?

If you choose to study a T Level, you will spend around 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% of your time in the workplace where you can put your new-found knowledge into action.

All T-Level students will complete an industry placement that lasts a minimum of 45 days, allowing the student to gain valuable time within a professional workplace and showcase upcoming industry talent to local employers.

What qualifications do I need to be accepted for a T Level?

Requirements will slightly vary depending on the course; however, most T Levels require 5 GCSEs (graded 9-4) including English and maths.

What can I do after my T Level?

T Levels provide a unique opportunity for students to gain industry knowledge, skills, and real workplace experience which they can use to progress wherever they feel best suited including work, higher education, or apprenticeships.

If you successfully complete your T Level qualification, you’ll also gain UCAS points! UCAS points can be used for your University application Completion of a T Level can also allocate the student with UCAS tariff points for those wanting to go on to University.
