Sara Gent

Sara Gent is one of Middlesbrough College's budding entrepeneurs. Enrolled on Entry Level 2 Independent Living and Employability Skills, she has gained valuable work experience at the College’s unique ‘Second Time Around’ vintage shop and at ST Cuthberts community café in Marton.

Whilst baking the tasty treats for the community cafe by hand, Sara has also played a part in encouraging students to donate their unwanted clothing to the College's onsite vintage shop.

And all the profits raised from both ventures are donated to charities handpicked by Sara and her peers. Previous donations have gone to Abbie's love, Zoe's Place and Cancer Research.

Claire Lloyd, Lecturer at Middlesbrough College commented: “A big part of Sara’s studies are about developing her confidence in new environments and interacting with new people,

"Not only is she developing her life skills such as cookery, but also her communications skills when interacting with customers and taking payments."
I've learned a lot when working on group projects such as the community cafe and vintage shop in college.
