Joana Nikaj & Loic Mokase Becke

After moving to the UK from Albania just three years Joana Nikaj achieved fantastic results - especially considering English is not her first language.

Joana got an A in biology, a B in Chemistry, a B in French and a C in Maths and will go on to study Biomedical Science at Kings College, London.

She emigrated with her mum Valbona and 16-year-old brother Jonabli. She said: “I really enjoyed studying at Middlesbrough College. It is a difficult situation in Albania so I was very glad to come here and have the support of the friends I made.”

Loic Mokase Becke, 18 who lives at Ingleby Barwick came to the UK five years ago from Cameroon with his dad Peter and brother and sister. He achieved an A in French and Cs in PE and Chemistry.

He will go on to study Physiotherapy at Brunel College London.
