Charlie Connely

"My time at Middlesbrough College has been brilliant!

I enrolled onto the level 1 Work Skills Programme in 2016 where I achieved a bespoke programme gaining a certificate level 2 in Sport and Functional English at Level 2.

I have since progressed onto the Supported Internship course which has given me lots of options; to move onto either an apprenticeship, into part-time paid work or a traineeship.

From my time at the College I've been able to develop both my knowledge and skills as well as gaining experience in the world of work which has inspired me to pursue a career within the sport and leisure industry.

So far I have worked alongside the Sport Maker at the College helping to plan sporting events and at Priory Woods School and Arts College where I supported teaching staff in the planning and delivery of sports and games activities, observed and supported students with learning difficulties to participate in activities and planned and facilitated games and activities with SEND pupils.

I have also started another placement at Bridge Hill Day Service where I have been working as part of a team to build and develop life skills through sport with SEND service users aged over 16.

The course has given me a lot more confidence and the tutors are really supportive.

I would definitely recommend coming to Middlesbrough College!"
