A work placement could be for a few days or a few weeks giving you real work experience in a company that best matches your course at MC.

Whereas….

A T level work placement will be for an extended period of 45 days / 315 hours, giving you real work experience in a company that is keen to see you develop skills and apply your training for a considerable length of time. 

This has the potential to lead to full time employment, an apprenticeship or higher level study.

Depending on the field you are interested in, our dedicated team member will be able to help you to gain a relevant placement.

  • If you are completing a T level, you will take part in a minimum 45-day placement in a role which is directly relevant to your course. The structure will be chosen by the employer and the College and could include 10-20 weeks of 2-4 days a week in the workplace
  • If you are completing work experience, you will spend anything from a few days up-to a few weeks in a role that is directly relevant to your course
  • You will ensure you work to the highest standard you can, acting professionally, communicating clearly and participating in a team
  • Adhere to all health and safety conditions at the business

Getting to your placement location is to be organised yourself but travel costs will be reimbursed by the College.

You will work full-time hours (9.00am-5.00pm dependant on the company).

Go prepared with lunch and snacks for throughout the day, however most places have coffee, tea and biscuits, with kitchen facilities to heat up food.

To ensure you get the most out of your work experience, our dedicated team will help you find the right work placement that supports your course and your career ambitions. You'll be assigned a dedicated Work Placement Co-ordinator who will visit you and provide support throughout the whole process. You will also be provided with a travel card to ensure you can get to work each day!
