Part Time Enrolment

New Applicants

Part time enrolment will begin on Tuesday 23rd August and we will be enrolling right through until the end of September onsite. Please come along to anyone of our enrolment sessions to chat with our tutors, gain information and advice and to enrol on your course.

Please note, enrolment for ESOL, GCSE Maths and English for Adults and Functional Skills will take place at our 2 Queens Square building.
Please bring the below to the onsite stage on your enrolment:

  • Examination result slips or certificates
  • One form of identity - such as your passport, national insurance card, driving license, etc.
  • Your enrolment letter

Free Courses for Adults

Aged 19 – 23
If you do not hold a level 2 or 3 qualification, you could study your course for free. Look out for the L2E and L3E symbols next to the course listings in our Part Time Guide.

Aged 24 and over
If you do not yet have a level 3 qualification, you can also study your first level 3 qualification for free!  Part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, these fully funded courses could boost your job prospects and help you access new opportunities.

Course Fees

You can pay for your part-time course by credit/debit card on our secure online enrolment form or arrange to pay by direct debit, so please make sure you have your payment method ready when you enrol. Loans are also available to support the cost of study; this can be discussed during enrolment with our helpful team.

Fees will vary between courses and you can find the fee for each course in our Adults Courses section on the course information page of the course you are interested in enrolling on.

However, depending on your circumstances, the cost of your course may be free! Middlesbrough College have a number of financial support packages to help with the cost of study such as learner support funds, support with childcare costs and professional and career development loans. View our part time course fees information for more information on our support packages.

Applicants will need to pay fees for all full cost and higher education courses.

Advanced Learner Loans

If you are aged over 19 and would like to study a level 3 or 4 qualification you could qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan from the Government.

  • Easy application
  • No credit checks or means testing
  • Repayments only start once you earn over £27,295
  • Repayments equate to 9% of your earnings over £27,295

If you study an Access to Higher Education Diploma and then progress and complete your degree, you will not be required to repay your Advanced Learner Loan back.  Our enrolment team can provide you with the information you need to apply.

Please note: For Health & Care and Childcare Courses

Disclosure Barring Service Check

Once you have enrolled on your programme the admin staff in the Health & Care and Childcare departments will send you a link to apply for your Disclosure Barring Service Check. The team will also be able to support you with any queries over your application.

There is a cost of £49.60 for the DBS application. Payment is made to Middlesbrough College by calling the Health and Care Office on 01642 333239 or 01642 333242. Please note, DBS applications cannot be processed until payment has been made.

Frequently Asked Questions

In order to enrol you will need to supply one of the following forms of ID:

  • Passport
  • Birth/Adoption/Marriage Certificate
  • Driving Licence
  • ID Card/ Other National ID
  • National Insurance Card/ Letter
  • Examination Certificates
  • Bank Credit/ Debit Card
  • Biometric Residence Permit
  • Certificate of Entitlement to Funding 

In addition to your ID, you will also need your National Insurance number along with any qualification results or certificates. 

We will be able to process your Personal Learning Record via our online system, which can verify any previous achievements within the last 5 years.

Please note that any financial support towards the cost of course fees is dependent on your previous results meaning we will not be able to offer fee remission until we have verified your results.

Depending your individual circumstances and the course you are enrolling on to, you may be eligible for fee remission.

If you do need to pay the fee in full, you can speak with our Finance department to organise a method of payment in the near future however please be aware, we will not be able to fully enrol you until the financial arrangements are in place.
