Access to Higher Education Courses

New Applicants

Applicants for Access to Higher Education courses will receive a letter and an email with a date and time to come into College to complete your enrolment onsite. If you have not yet completed your BKSB maths and English assessments and personal statements you will need to do these onsite first. Then you will meet your tutor, confirm your place on the course and collect your ID badge.   
Please bring the below to the onsite stage on your enrolment:

  • Examination result slips or certificates
  • One form of identity - such as your passport, national insurance card, driving license, etc.
  • Your enrolment letter

Applicants for Distance Learning Access Course

Applicants for Distance Learning Access courses will receive a letter and an email inviting you to complete your enrolment online through our secure online enrolment facility, where you will also be asked to upload a photograph of yourself along with your qualifications.  If you have not yet completed your BKSB maths and English assessments and personal statements you will be sent a link to complete these assessments online. 

Once your enrolment has been confirmed by your tutor, course joining instructions will be sent out to you.

Advanced Learner Loan

Most Access to HE students will pay for their course through accessing an Advanced Learner Loan, which is written off if you then progress on to study a degree. More information about the Advanced Learner Loan can be found here

Advanced Learner Loan (ALL) application drop-ins available
Booking not required, just turn up during the sessions times. Please bring your Funding Information Letter and valid passport (if possible). For any further information, call Student Services on 01642 333606.

Disclosure Barring Service Check

Once you have enrolled on your programme the admin staff in the Health & Care and Childcare departments will send you a link to apply for your Disclosure Barring Service Check. The team will also be able to support you with any queries over your application.

There is a cost of £49.60 for the DBS application. Payment is made to Middlesbrough College by calling the Health and Care Office on 01642 333239 or 01642 333242. Please note, DBS applications cannot be processed until payment has been made.
