T Level – Education and Early Years – Level 3

In Year 1, you will study the core components of the education and early year sector, including underpinning concepts, theories, and principles as well as essential core skills.
You will study different units from across the Childcare sector for age ranges 0-19 years including:

• Behaviour, child development
• Equality and diversity
• Parents, families, and carers
• Safeguarding, health and well-being

Assisting Teaching (AT):
Support the class teacher to enhance children’s education, individually and in groups
Plan, provide and review educational opportunities in collaboration with teachers and other adults
Safeguard and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people
Recognise, adapt and respond to individual children’s needs, including those with SEND, to support development and access to the curriculumWithin the assisting teaching route, you will undergo 315 hours of placement.
Early Years Educator (EYE):
Support and promote children’s play, development and early education
Develop relationships with children to facilitate their development
Plan, provide and review care, play and educational opportunities to enable children to progress
Safeguard and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of children• Work in partnership with colleagues, parents, carers and other professionals to support children’s development
Within the Early Years educator route, you will undergo 750 hours of placement. Successful completion of the EYE pathway will provide learners with a licence to practice.
Within first year your assessments will include an Employer Set Project (ESP) and a written exam. In Year 2, written assessments in controlled conditions and observations within placement will be completed.

September – June

You must have achieved a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including English, maths and science.

The course carries full UCAS points.

Year 1 – Core component

Assessment, graded- A*-E and U:

• Paper A written examination
• Paper B written examination
• Employer-set project

Year 2 – Occupational specialism: Assisting Teaching or Early Years Educator

• Assessment, graded Distinction/Merit/Pass and Ungraded
• Synoptic practical assignments

You can progress to University or direct into industry. Career opportunities include practitioner in a day nursery, management, early years practitioner, early years educator, primary/secondary support assistant, teaching and apprenticeships.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

Every T Level student will take an industry placement lasting for 45 days, helping you to gain valuable experience in the workplace and allowing employers to meet the new talent in their industry.
