There will be no scheduled lessons on Wednesday 29th November for full-time 16-18 year old students due to a staff CPD day. A Level students will be in college as normal.
Rigging, Lifting and Slinging – Initial

Course overview
This course is suitable for all employees with limited or no prior experience, required to lift loads.
The course has been designed to give delegates an understanding of different techniques that can be applied to Rigging and Slinging and the Health and Safety Regulations that apply.
Aims
At the end of the course the delegates will have an understanding of the theoretical and practical application of slinging.
Objectives
At the end of the course delegates will:
•Understand LOLER 1998
•Understand the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (Sections 2, 7 & 8) and other relevant legislation
•Establish loads, construction and safe use of rope, wire rope and chains, hooks, eyebolts and shackles
•Hand signals
•Correct slinging techniques
•Safe working practices
•The effects of angles
