NCFE Level 4 Advanced Practitioner in Schools and Colleges

This qualification will contain the following course units:

• Enabling individuals to learn – the learner will consider diverse approaches to pedagogy that influence holistic learning in children and young people.
• Understand how to support children and young people to improve their mental health and well-being – learners will consider the factors that could influence mental health and well-being in children and young people.
• Working with other to support individuals with additional needs and disabilities in a school or college – learners will look at effective inclusion of children, young people and/or adults.
• Working with families and other professionals in a school or a college setting – the learner will examine statutory requirements for working in partnership with families, and other professionals.
• Implementing change in school or college setting – the learner will require to plan, implement, and evaluate change in relation to an identified theme. This is a research unit, and the learner will be introduced to research skills and the roles of ethics when undertaking research.

Level 3 in sector specific area
Maths/English Grade C/4 or above or L2 Functional Skills (or willing to work towards)
Working within a school or college with ages 5 years and above

In order to achieve this qualification, learners are required to successfully complete a series of assessment to build a professional portfolio covering:

Assessment of knowledge/Understanding – Written Assessments/Essays/Reports.

Assessment of competence/skills – Direct observation of practice/ProfessionalDiscussion/Learner Reflective Journal

Higher Level Practitioner/Teaching Assistant

Internal progression at a higher level, including those with management responsibilities – Degree/PGCE leadership, mentoring, supervision, and management opportunities

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

However, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to fund all or part of the fee. For information on Advanced Learning Loans go to www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans/.

The Advanced Learner Loan will not be repayable by students who progress into Higher Education and complete their degree.
