There will be no scheduled lessons on Wednesday 29th November for full-time 16-18 year old students due to a staff CPD day. A Level students will be in college as normal.
As an Information Communications Technician (ICT) the apprentice will learn how to provide
support to internal and/or external customers, by using tools or systems to problem solve and
trouble-shoot routine and non-routine problems.
This includes supporting clients/customers with their digital systems. The apprentice will monitor and maintain the systems and/or platforms to maximise productivity and user experience.
Although there are no specific on-line qualifications required the apprentice will choose to attend either CompTia or CISCO training sessions.
The ICT apprenticeship consists of three pathways. The most suitable pathway will be discussed with the apprentice and employer depending on the job role. The pathways are as follows:
- Support Technician
- Network Technician
- Digital Communications Technician
The apprenticeship consists of work based and classroom learning to support learners to gain the knowledge and skills required for end point assessment.
The way you apply for an apprenticeships is slightly different that applying for a full-time course. There are many great apprenticeships programmes on offer however to start on a programme, there also needs to be a suitable employer who has a vacancy or is happy to take you on as an apprentice. Once a vacancy becomes available, it’s all about putting together a great application and being successful at the interview.
