Fd Social and Community Studies – Level 4 and 5 – Full Time

Level 4 study year 1:

• Understanding Organisations
• Higher Education Study Skills
• Developing Skills For Working Practice

Level 5 study- year 2:

• Participation and Inclusion for Individuals with Additional Needs
• Working within a multiagency environment
• Developing Community Based Approaches
• Understanding approaches to learning and behaviour
• Work-Based Project

Learning is face to face.

• You must have achieved 48 UCAS tariff points from an appropriate Level 3 qualification (NVQ 3, BTEC Award or A Level). You are also required to have GCSE passes at grade 4 (C) or equivalent in English and maths or be working towards this.
• You are required to complete and submit an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prior to enrolment. The results of the DBS will inform the range and type of work-based learning that the applicant will be able to engage with. You are encouraged to discuss this with the College prior to application.
• Non-standard entrants will be interviewed to assess their ability to complete the course. This will entail a review of any professional experience and training gained in the workplace to ensure that this adequately prepares you to cope with the academic level of study.
• Placement experience is an essential feature of the FD Social and Community course. All undergraduate students are expected to find themselves a suitable work-based placement prior to enrolling on the course. This should be linked to a career area of interest. If this is not achieved by the time the student enrols onto the FD course, then support will be given to assist in finding a work-based placement.

The course is assessed through module assessments linked to assignments.

Successful completion of this programme provides entry to the BA (Hons) Social and Community Studies [Top-Up] so that you complete a full honours degree.

A laptop is provided via the College/University Centre.

Fees payable direct to Middlesbrough College, £6,900 per year.
