Creative Digital Production (Games/Media) – Level 3

The course requires a high level of creative ability, willing to explore new subjects enthusiastically and will give a taste of many aspects of game development.

Modules offered may vary.

Modules will include:

• 3D Modelled Environments and Characters for Games and Animation
• Computer game production
• Animation
• Sound for media
• Graphics, comics and digital imagery
• Planning and Pitching Creative Media Products
• Visual FX for the games Industry
• Preparation for Games industry careers and Portfolio building
• Marketing within the Games industry

September – June

Internal progression from a Level 2 Games Development. You must have achieved four GCSEs at grade 4/5 (C) or above which must include English or maths.

You will be continuously assessed through a series of assignments and projects.

University opportunities

Past students have progressed to study degrees in games design, computer games (design) with digital arts, computing for games, media studies, computer games enterprise and technical games development.

Career opportunities

Career opportunities include games development, games design, platform development and multimedia programmer.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

It is mandatory for students to complete 30 hours of meaningful work experience during the course. This is an important aspect of the course and will help to develop your skills to get a job, progress to a higher level qualification at Middlesbrough College or potentially gain a place at university.
