There will be no scheduled lessons on Wednesday 29th November for full-time 16-18 year old students due to a staff CPD day. A Level students will be in college as normal.
This course is a 10 week course that is delivered both in college or online through a live class. The programme has been developed to provide learners the knowledge and understanding needed to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities. The course is aimed at professionals working or volunteering in education or care settings in roles such as teaching assistants, early years’ educators, playworkers and childminders. The course will develop the learner’s understanding of factors that influence children and young people’s development from birth, to know about current legislation that informs practice, to plan towards achievement of positive outcomes. You will also learn how to support children and young people with speech, language and communication needs, as well as supporting children and young people with behaviour, social and emotional difficulties and develop an understanding of available support services, legal requirements for recording, sharing and storing information.
Childcare & Early Years
Childcare students will be based in our multi-million pound campus, with specialist classrooms and equipment such as cyber babies and early years resources. Completing a work placement is a crucial element of our childcare courses as it means you can apply classroom learning in a real work environment.
