Zoe Kendall
Electrical Lecturer
Zoe began her Electrical Engineering career as a TTE student in 2018 where she studied for her BTEC Level 3 Electrical Engineering Diploma.
“I always knew I wanted to do something different, and I liked being hands-on and in a practical environment, it felt natural to study in the Engineering industry.”
“I loved studying at TTE all the tutors were incredibly supportive, and we always had an enjoyable time while we were learning. The classes were so engaging, and I loved coming in each day to find out what I was going to learn next – I built some great relationships and stay connected with my classmates!”
Part way through her studies Zoe secured an apprenticeship with Quorn Foods where she worked for over 3 years, being able to put all the skills she acquired at TTE into practice.
“I gained some invaluable experience working on such a big plant, repairing industrial pieces of kit, and ensuring everything was working as smoothly as possible.
I loved the apprenticeship as I was able to continue my studies and get my qualification while getting paid.”
Zoe also worked for Serco at James Cook University Hospital where she supported with electrical maintenance of the hospital.
“Again, working on such a large site gave me a huge amount of experience and really helped me broaden my skillset, I helped with maintaining the air conditioning systems and helping fix and equipment that broke down – it was very rewarding!”
Despite having some amazing roles Zoe knew her passion lied in teaching.
“I have always wanted to teach, and when the job came about it was the perfect fit, I have always wanted to do the full 360 and be the supportive mentor that I once had.”
Zoe applied for the role of Electrical Lecturer at Middlesbrough College and has not looked back, being in the Engineering industry since the age of 16, Zoe is now able to pass on her skills to her students and get them onto an exciting career path –just like she did.
“I have only been here three weeks and I already feel at home, the team are truly amazing and have been so supportive – I appreciate everyone single team member in that staff room!”
