Denis Rraku
Denis Rrayu may have only lived in the UK for the past three years, but he is already making moves towards his dream career.
The 18-year-old relocated to Middlesbrough from Greece just before taking his GCSEs – and his hard work and determination since has helped him achieve an A in biology, B in maths and a C in chemistry.
Inspired by his father’s career in the industry, Denis is set to study a Foundation Degree in Medicine at Lancaster University and hopes to use his love of science to help others.
He said: “We moved to the UK from Greece so my sister could study here, and as much as I miss my friends and extended family, I’ve loved living and studying in Middlesbrough.
“I was fluent in English when we came here but the tutors here at the College have really supported me, especially through the pandemic.
“I’m hoping to follow in my father’s footsteps and make him, and my whole family, very proud.”
