A Level Psychology team
Kayleigh Gore and Andy Duggan
With just over 100 students studying A Level psychology, Andy Duggan and Kayleigh Gore are responsible for teaching the most popular subject at Middlesbrough College Sixth Form.
Andy, who is one of the few chartered biologists in the region, specialises in teaching research methods, biopsychology and psychopathology. Kayleigh specialises in cognitive Psychology, social Psychology and forensic Psychology.
Andy said, “Psychology plays a huge factor in a range of different sectors and job roles which is why it’s a brilliant subject to teach. I especially love teaching psychopathology as this focuses on mental health, which is important to raise awareness of and for young people to understand.”
Kayleigh added, “Teaching Psychology is really interesting and varied and the subject can be adapted to suit a wide range of careers and industries. Our students progress into some amazing careers such as forensic Psychology and research and it is fantastic to think we are teaching the leading minds of the next generation.”
Andy also volunteers as a Crisis Councillor with Shout, a charity that helps people who are coping with trauma with a free 24 hotline. Andy is also a keen crafter working with Claritystamp to provide craft product samples, which are featured on the craft television channel, Hochanda!
Kayleigh is also no stranger to projects outside of teaching and is a popular online book blogger.
Kayleigh said “It’s great; I get sent books by publishers and I read these and write reviews for my blog. I especially love fantasy series and have just finished reading all of the Game of Thrones books!”
