The Subsidiary Diploma (literacy) explores language development, acquisition and use, the barriers to language acquisition and development and the theories and principles of literacy learning. It then focuses on the learning and teaching of literacy through the planning, selection and development of approaches to language and literacy learning for a range of learner types.

The course aims to provide a sound subject knowledge base for teaching adult numeracy learners in a range of lifelong learning institutions, to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes for teaching adult literacy learners, to promote personal and professional development and to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

You must have achieved a PGCE or Cert Ed qualification.

You must also have teaching practice of a minimum of 50 hours and an Enhanced Discolsure and Barring Service (DBS check).

You will be asssessed through 50 hours of teaching practice, completion of a personal and professional practice file and assessment tasks.

Please note this course is full cost and therefore learners are unable to get any fee remission.
