This qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in care settings.
It contains both mandatory and optional units allowing learners to tailor the qualification to meet their needs, interests, preferred progression paths and the context of their job role.

The qualification covers a wide range of areas which includes units covering:
• aspects of support
• specialisms
• clinical skills or healthcare tasks
• leadership and management skills
It is aimed at all those who wish to work or are already working in health and social care settings in England.

September Monday & Wednesday 10am - 2.30pm 100% attendance is required to pass the course.

Entry requirements

Level 2 Diploma in care or equivalent.
Level 2 English and Maths or willing to attain while on the course.
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement, as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to the following:

  • employment
  • lead adult care worker
  • senior care support worker
  • lead personal assistant
  • further education:

Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult CareLevel 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England).

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Advanced Learner Loan: If you are aged 19-23 and this is not your first full Level 3 qualification or you are aged 24 or over on the start date of the course, you will have to pay fees. However, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to fund all or part of the fee.
