Overview

This multi-skills course is ideal for those who are unsure which vocational route to choose. You will be given the opportunity to access a range of related specialisms to help you decide where you will move on to following your 1-year programme.

You will work towards a Level 1 qualification as well as GCSE in maths and/or English and will also be able to engage in work-based learning to give you vital employability skills and experience to prepare you for the next level of study or employment. 

Students will access vocational experience in each of the following areas:

  • Hair
  • Beauty
  • Hair and Media Makeup
  • Travel and Aviation

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Entry Level 3 qualification and/or GCSEs at grade 2-1 in maths & English.

During your time on the course, you will be assessed by completing a portfolio of assessed assignments and projects. You will also be given regular feedback in your practical sessions to ensure your skills are always developing and meeting the high expectations of industry professionals. If you are working towards maths and/or English, you will complete exams as part of your qualification but you will also get regular feedback from your tutor so we can make sure you are as ready for your exams as you can be.

You can progress to a Level 2 programme within college, an apprenticeship programme or into employment.

Life Skills

Explore Life Skills

Life Skills students will be joining a small, self-contained community where they can develop a range of skills including writing, independence, and employment progression. Students have access to the ALS Hub, with quiet study and social spaces and specialist facilities, and can get involved in a range of projects such as the community café.
