Overview

This is a 2 year health & social care programme. This course will enhance your skills and prepare you for employment in the health and social care sector or for progression to higher education. You will study a further nine different units across the health and social care sector including empowerment in health and social care, protection of children and adults, anatomy and physiology, research skills and personal and professional development.

You will study a further four optional units specific to your future in either health or social care. You will also undertake a mandatory work placement to develop your skills and knowledge within the sector, gaining a minimum of 175 hours work experience. Upon course completion this course will provide 72 – 168 UCAS points.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved 5 GCSEs at grades 4 and above. You must have achieved a grade 4 in English and maths.

This is a progressional course for students who have successfully completed the Level 3 CACHE Certificate in year 1. You will also undertake a mandatory work placement to develop your skills and knowledge within the sector, gaining a minimum of 100 hours work experience. This is assessed through assignments, an Anatomy and Physiology exam and an external assessment.

University opportunities
Past students have progressed to study degrees in health, wellbeing and social care, early childhood practice, social and public sector studies and youth, childhood and community studies, nursing, psychology, criminology and social work.


Career opportunities
Career opportunities include social work, nursing, therapy, speech and language therapy, midwifery, paramedic, youth work and support work.
