Overview

Youth, childhood and community workers play a central role in todays society, providing support for young people as they learn about themselves and the society in which they live.


The course is designed for youth, childhood and community workers or those who want to work in the sector, who wish to extend their understanding, skills and competence as informal educators and gain a qualification in youth, childhood and community work. This course helps you to develop your understanding of the sector, social inclusion, empowerment and the nature of society, preparing them to engage effectively in a key role in the community.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate foundation degree or Level 5 equivalent.

You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods, including, essays, presentations, research tasks, projects and case studies.

All programmes of study at Middlesbrough College have employability at the core, with modules designed to introduce students to real world scenarios.
Combined with the development of transferrable graduate skills, students on this programme of study can follow careers in a variety of roles within the youth, childhood and community work sector. Additionally, you will be supported in seeking opportunities to progress onto postgraduate study should you wish.
