Overview

This course will help you to achieve up to a Level 2 qualification in Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development.

You will have the opportunity to develop the skills needed to progress in education, employment and adulthood.


You will develop the skills needed for work and experience working in real life work based environments.


This course is suitable for those that require support into adulthood with employment, good health, independent living options and friends, relationships and community inclusion.
This course is for 16-18 year olds (or 19-24 year olds with an EHCP).

Entry requirements

There are no formal qualifications required, but you will need to provide a satisfactory reference and undertake a successful interview.

You will be continuously assessed using a variety of different methods.

Middlesbrough College offers a range of Level 1 programmes that you may be able to progress on to.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into further education.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Explore Life Skills

Life Skills students will be joining a small, self-contained community where they can develop a range of skills including writing, independence, and employment progression. Students have access to the ALS Hub, with quiet study and social spaces and specialist facilities, and can get involved in a range of projects such as the community café.
