Overview

This course will give you an understanding of all aspects of fashion business and retail and will prepare you for the reality of the sector and the progression paths available to you.

You will develop creative, practical and theoretical skills in the following areas: fashion buying, marketing, visual merchandising, design, contextual research, communication, styling, fashion history and culture as well as studying fashion trends at couture, designer and high street levels.

  • Contextual Research
  • Fashion Communication
  • Fashion Production & Operations
  • Exploring Buying and Selling for Fashion Retail
  • Fashion Marketing
  • Visual Merchandising
  • Personal Fashion Project

In addition English and maths will be developed and assessed.

September- June

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 1 vocational qualification and /or 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above.

You will be assessed by a variety of methods including written assignments, presentations discussion, sketchbook development, mood boards and oral questioning.

You can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Fashion Buisness and Communication, other Level 3 qualifications or directlty into employment.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Fashion Business & Communication students will be based in our specialist classrooms with a range of resources to complement their studies. They will take part in a range of projects such as fashion shows, styling models for photo shoots, taking part in charity sales and decorating window displays.
