Overview

Our positive steps programme is designed to prepare you to move on to a course in one of our many vocational areas across college or progress to employment.

It not only provides you with a useful stepping stone towards developing your confidence to move into your chosen subject area but will also support you to develop your skills in employability, personal development, English and maths and leads towards a Level 1 qualification.

Our positive steps programme is designed to be practical and will involve you getting hands-on experience to develop your skills and help you get to where you want to be. We will support you to engage positively with all aspects of the programme, focus you towards achieving your ambitions and will be on hand to help you in a variety of ways both in and out of the classroom.

Along with subject based units including areas such as construction, motor vehicle, catering and sport.

September – June

3/4 days per week, 17 hours per week.

Entry requirements

There are no formal qualifications required.

You will be continuously assessed using a variety of different methods.

You can progress onto a range of Level 1 or Level 2 programmes across College and is an ideal stepping stone into Construction.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Construction

Explore Construction

Construction students will have the opportunity to work in state of the art workshops, and have access to a real life outdoor construction site. This realistic work environment allows students to gain practical experience in constructing a single story dwelling which is built from foundations up to the roof.
