It is designed to meet the needs of students who work or want to work as a chef and have the flexibility to undertake additional learning in food service.

Entry requirements

You should be working or have an interest to work in the catering and hospitality industry.

Assessment is flexible to suit centre and student needs, making the qualification accessible to a wide spectrum of individuals.

Observation of tasks in the workplace or College environment allows assessors to determine practical skills and competency. Meanwhile, portfolios enable students to collate the evidence produced through assessment in order to showcase their talents to prospective employers.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances. Many people qualify for free tuition fees, for more information please contact Course Information on 01642 333333.

Level 2 Entitlement: If you are aged 19 - 23 on the start date of the course and this
is your first full Level 2 qualification, the course is free if you are studying for an entry or Level 1 qualification (except Basic Skills) where a step from Basic Skills is needed in order to progress to a first full Level 2 course or this is a first full Level 2 qualification.

Catering and Hospitality students will have the opportunity to work in our award winning training restaurant, The Waterside Brasserie. The restaurant is open to the public across the week and all the food is prepared and served by our students in one of our five fully equipped industrial kitchens.
