Within the Level 2 Health & Social Care Diploma there are three pathways:

  • Generic
  • Dementia Pathway
  • Learning Disabilities Pathway

Part time delivery.

You will spend a minimum of two days a week in a relevant workplace. You will be expected to attend some taught classes / workshops. In these classes / workshops you will look at the underpinning knowledge that you need to succesfully complete the course.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but the College must carry out an initial assessment of each candidate prior to the start of their programme to ensure that they are entered for an appropriate type and level of qualification.

You will need some study and general communication skills in order to complete the assessment requirements.

If you are not employed in the health and social care sector you will need a relevant work placement and you will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service.

You will be observed in the workplace by a college assessor who will assess your performance against the assessment criteria of the qualification.

You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods which will include assignment work, questions, professional discussion, witness testimony and reflective accounts.

Work be assessed via a use of an electronic portfolio.

You can progress onto an advanced apprenticeship in health and social care.

You can also progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (QCF) or seek employment.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances. Many people qualify for free tuition fees, for more information please contact Course Information on 01642 333333.

Level 2 Entitlement: If you are aged 19 - 23 on the start date of the course and this is your first full Level 2 qualification, the course is free if you are studying for an entry or Level 1 qualification (except Basic Skills) where a step from Basic Skills is needed in order to progress to a first full Level 2 course or this is a first full Level 2 qualification.

You only need to apply once for A Level programmes. After receiving your application form you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have a chance to discuss which specific A Level subjects you would like to enrol on.
