Overview

This course concentrates on the professional and technical aspects of construction and the built environment, developing the skills, knowledge and understanding required to study and work within this varied industry. You will study topics in project management, construction processes and procedures, design, planning and regulations, construction and design drawing techniques and economics, finance and quantity surveying.

On completion of this course, you will be offered the opportunity to achieve the IOSH L1 Cert Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Workers and CSCS card qualifications.

This programme is IoT (Institute of Technology) recognised, guaranteeing you outstanding technical training.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved four GCSEs (including maths and English) at grade 4 or above.

You will be assessed through projects, assignments, practical activities, coursework and presentations.

Two externally marked exams will need to be taken in January and May.

Higher Education opportunities
Past students have progressed to study Higher National Certificates and Diplomas in engineering, built environment, architecture, civil engineering, quantity surveying, building surveying and project management, surveying & design for Construction and the Built Environment, building services design, hazardous materials analysis & surveying.

Career opportunities
Career opportunities include site management, inspection, architecture, town planning and civil engineering.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Explore Construction

Construction students will have the opportunity to work in state of the art workshops, and have access to a real life outdoor construction site. This realistic work environment allows students to gain practical experience in constructing a single story dwelling which is built from foundations up to the roof.
