The course is a Level 3 National Certificate in applied science covering two mandatory units. The first unit covers biology, chemistry and physics covering periodicity, cells and tissues and waves. The second unit is practical techniques used in chemistry such as titration, colorimetry and chromatography. This is taken alongside GCSE English / maths, and an independent skills project.

Entry requirements

GCSE Science at grade 4, and 3 other GCSEs at grade 4. GCSE maths/English Language at a grade 3 (resits required).

University Opportunities: Past students have progressed to study degrees in biology, chemistry, physics, crime scene science, dietetics, radiography, paramedic sciences and forensic science.

Career Opportunities: Career opportunities include chemical science, laboratory technician, research or development, management, environmental professions and conservation.
