Overview

This qualification aims to introduce learners to the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and some of the approaches that underpin the use of these skills.

This qualification gives learners the opportunity to investigate the knowledge and skills needed to use counselling skills and engage in a helping interaction appropriately.

This qualification does not qualify learners to practise as a counsellor.

To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, learners are required to successfully complete 4 mandatory units:

  • Using counselling skills
  • Introduction to counselling skills theories
  • Diversity and ethics in the use of counselling skills
  • Counselling skills and personal development

You will study around your current lifestyle, when it suits you. You should expect to be studying for around 5-10 hours per week.

Entry requirements

The course is delivered and assessed on line; those that apply will need internet access. You will also need to have the skills to be able to complete level 2 written online assignments.

Learners are assessed throughout their course by a series of short answer assessment questions. You will answer a handful of relevant assessment questions at the end of each section you complete, before submitting your answers for your tutor to mark.

Successfully completing a course with us can definitely improve your career prospects as you will have gained a nationally recognised qualification. NCFE is a highly respected organisation with strict standards and requirements, which each course is tailored to. Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to the following other courses with NCFE:

• Level 3 Award in Counselling Skills and Theory
• Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills

Distance learning courses are free for qualifying learners over the age of 19. *If you decide to withdraw from the course, we allow a 30 day grace period from the date of enrolment, after this point you will be charged a £50 withdrawal fee.

You will need access to a computer or tablet with internet access.
