This course will provide you with knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people 5 to 19 years of age. You will study, planning, delivery, assessment, additional needs, bilingual support and personal development and reflective practice.
You will undertake a 2-day placement each week in primary, secondary schools, special needs school or colleges and complete a minimum of 200 hours over the year.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved 5 GCSE’s at grade 4 (C) or above or achieved Level 2 Childcare. You must have Grade 4(C) in English or maths, plus 2 suitable references. You will be required to complete a satisfactory Enhanced Disclose and Barring Service (DBS check).

All work will be assignment based and graded as achieved or not achieved.

You can progress to Level 4 certificate, a foundation degree (at 18 years old) or specialist roles in the workforce.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

All students will require a DBS in order to attend placement at a cost of £44 to be paid by the student.

Placement T-shirts are required to be worn in placement and cost £8 each payable by the student.
