This programme is delivered in state-of-the-art music and performance facilities featuring five recording studios, five control rooms and a live performance theatre.

You have access to all our studios from day 1. We use industry-standard hardware/software and our tutors and technical staff have extensive industry experience. We are an Avid (Pro Tools) Authorised Learning Partner. Authorised Learning Partner status also ensures that all workstations and recording studios are running the latest version of ProTools to ensure you are taught on the most up to date software with the latest features available to professionals in the music and post production industries.

Studios are equipped with industry standard Avid Pro Tools HDX systems (MacPro hosted) and Avid S6 and C|24 control surfaces offering 256 simultaneous audio tracks at 96 kHz and incredibly low monitoring latency of 0.7 ms. Studios also offer Pro Tools HD, Apple Logic, Ableton Live Suite, MAX (including MAX For Live), Reason, anAudient iD14, Genelec and PMC monitoring.

Entry requirements

• You must have achieved 96 UCAS tariff points from an appropriate Level 3 qualification (NVQ 3, BTEC Award or A Level).
• You are also required to have GCSE passes at grade 4 (C) or equivalent in English and maths. Relevant subjects are music technology, music or a science/technology-related subject.
• Non-standard applicants for both full and part time modes of study will be considered based on individual merit and industrial experience relevant to the programme.

All modules are delivered in our excellently equipped recording studios, control rooms and audiovisual laboratories.

You are taught by industry practitioners who will help you acquire the skills and knowledge required to creatively use the latest technologies.

You are expected to work independently and responsibly throughout the duration of your course. Your commitment is vital for success.

You will be assessed through a range of music-related media, written assignments, reports, individual and group presentations and live performances.

Our students follow careers in sound/music production, sound capture (sound engineering), live sound production/engineering (gigs, theatre, events), sound design and processing/control, music for time-based media (film, video), broadcast (radio, television, internet), recording artists, music technology journalism and multimedia authoring.

Fees payable direct to Middlesbrough College, £8,500 per year.

Student finance code- 542915

Students on a 3 year full degree programme will be eligible for a bursary scheme of £1000 across their first and second year of study. This is not means-tested and is split into yearly instalments across the duration of the course. This can be used as you wish but can help with course books, equipment, travel and accommodation.
