Entry requirements

You must have achieved 48 UCAS tariff points from an appropriate Level 3 qualification (NVQ 3, BTEC Award, A Level or relevant T Level qualification).

You are also required to have GCSE passes at grade 4 (C) or equivalent in English and maths.

You are required to complete and submit an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prior to enrolment. The results of the DBS will inform the range and type of work based learning that the applicant will be able to engage with. You are encouraged to discuss this with the College prior to application.

Non-standard entrants will be interviewed to assess their ability to complete the course. This will entail a review of any professional experience and training gained in the work place to ensure that this adequately prepares you to cope with the academic level of study.

Teaching methods will include lectures, seminars, tutorials, industry guest speakers and visits to work settings.

You will plan visits to a range of settings related to the social and public sector, and connected to your own areas of specialist interest. This provides a strong focus on embedding employability, professional skills and knowledge into the course.

In addition to the above, you are expected to commit to approximately 25 hours a week of independent study in preparation for teaching sessions and preparing for and completing assessment.

You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods to enhance the experience as well as develop key transferable skills.
This includes essays, presentations, research tasks, projects and case studies.

Successful completion of this programme provides entry to the BA (Hons) Social and Public Sector Development [Top-Up] so that you complete a full honours degree.

Fees payable direct to Middlesbrough College, £6,900 per year.
