Overview

This course has been designed to help you understand the significance of historical events, the role of individuals in history and the nature of change over time. History will help you to gain a deeper understanding of the past through political, social, economic and cultural perspectives. You will study the USA 1865-1975, Britain 1951-2007 with a historical enquiry into 17th Century Spain to bring a chronological range of at least 200 years.

Entry requirements

You should have achieved at least five 9-5 grades at GCSE (not equivalents), including English language and maths. An average GCSE point score of 5.5 recommended (only GCSE grades for this score, not equivalents).

There are two 2 hour 30 minute examinations at the end of the second year and a non-examined assessment.

University Opportunities: Past students have progressed to study degrees in history, law, English, politics, journalism, art history, social and public sector development and education.
Career Opportunities: Career opportunities include teaching, political work, museum work, research, journalism and archaeology.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.
