Overview

This course covers a wide range of technical practical skills and knowledge required to work as a hair stylist in a salon providing colouring and perming services. You will complete 30 hours industry salon experience, working with local employers to help you gain the skills and experience required. You will study a range of modules including the principles of hairdressing, how to treat the hair and scalp, styling, setting and dressing hair and cutting hair using basic techniques.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English or an appropriate Level 1 Vocational Qualification. School leavers are not able to apply for this course.

You can progress onto the Level 2 Top-up Hairdressing Diploma.
