Overview

The course is for learners wanting to progress to employment in manufacturing engineering, such as quality control technician. Learners gain relevant skills and knowledge from studying a range of units.

You will be assessed internally through assignments and tasks and externally by examination.

Modules include engineering principles, safety in engineering, engineering product design and manufacture, quality in engineering, modern manufacturing systems, computer aided manufacturing and CAD.

September - June

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 2 vocational qualification and /or four GCSEs at grade 4/5 (C) or above that must include maths, English and science.

You will be assessed through internally set assignments or time constrained tests per module.

This qualification will provide you with a range of transferable skills so that you can progress onto a range of our HE courses.

Past students have progressed to study Higher National Certificate/ Diploma in mechanical or manufacturing engineering* or study a degree in engineering*. You can also progress into an apprenticeship or employment.

Career Opportunities include mechanical engineering, engineering technician, science, engineering or production technician.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.
