The course aims to provide a programme of study related to the caring sectors. If you have a general interest in care and an aptitude to progress to further study then this course is perfect for you. The course aims to broaden and deepen your understanding of careers in healthcare, social care and children’s services. You will be introduced to the caring sectors and study health and social care needs. You will also study personal care in health and social care, communication with adults and children, promoting healthy eating in care, keeping children safe and learning experiences for young children.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Entry Level vocational qualification and/ or GCSEs at grade 2-1 (E-F) or above.

There are a range of practical and written assignments for each unit.

You can progress onto the a Level 2 programme within the College including the Level 2 Extended Diploma Health and Social Care or Level 2 Early Years Practitioner based on your achievements, attitude and meeting expectations on the Level 1 programme.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.
