Overview

This course is a broad introduction to art and design and is practical and work related. You will undertake a range of practical tasks exploring media and techniques, fashion and textiles, photography and graphics, printmaking, illustration, drawing and painting.

The course will cover a mixture of real life briefs and self-devised projects. There are no exams on this course, as all work undertaken is assignment based.

Entry requirements

GCSEs at grade 2-1 or above or an appropriate entry level vocational qualification.

You will be continuously assesed through successfully completing a series of assignments and projects.

You can progress onto a related Level 2 course.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Explore Creative Arts

As a creative arts student, you'll benefit from Middlesbrough College's great facilities and high quality equipment and materials. This includes a photography studio and darkroom, large Apple iMac suite, spacious workshops and print and textiles studio. Students get involved in a range of projects to develop their creative skills including fashion shows, designing posters for theatre performances and the end of year art show.
