This level 2 course is designed as a stepping stone for those hoping to pursue a career as a Mechanical Engineer.

Mechanical craftsmen and craftswomen typically move into a wide range of occupations throughout the UK and overseas either as a Mechanical Fitter or as a Mechanical Production Technician.

The course provides learners with an industry recognised technical qualification, giving them hands-on workshop experience.

Modules offered may vary.

Modules will include:
• Working safely in an engineering environment
• Carrying out engineering activities efficiently and effectively
• Using and communicating technical information
• Producing components using hand fitting techniques
• Preparing and using lathes for turning operations
• Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment
• Hydraulics and pneumatic systems

3 days per week.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements of GCSE Grade D/3 in maths, English and science.

You will be assessed through observation (with appropriate witness testimony), short online testing and on-going assignments.

This qualification will provide you with a range of transferable skills so that you can progress onto a Level 3 Study Programme, an Apprenticeship or Employment.
