This course introduces you to the health and social care sector, and develops your key skills in: Equality & Diversity, Health Safety & Security and Building Positive Relationships. You will also be introduced to more specialised units that could include: Psychology, Anatomy and Physiology, Safeguarding and Public Health. Each year of study includes units that are either exam or coursework based.This course is suitable for anyone who wants to explore the Health, Social or Childcare sector or has a desire to work in these areas.

Entry requirements

You should have achieved at least five 9-5 grades at GCSE (not equivalents), including English language and maths. An average GCSE point score of 5.5 recommended (only GCSE grades for this score, not equivalents).

You will be assessed using coursework within each unit using a variety of assessment methods including: written, oral and presentation. Each assessment is graded using Pass Merit and Distinction.

University Opportunities: Past students have progressed to study degrees in social work, health, wellbeing and social care, working with children and young people, adult social care, nursing, psychology, criminology, early childhood practice, social and public sector studies and youth, childhood and community studies.
Career Opportunities: Career opportunities include social work, nursing, counselling, paramedic practice, youth work, support work and teaching.

You will not have to pay tuition fees if you are under 19 on 31 August in the year of your entry to the course. You must also satisfy UK / EEA residency rules.

You only need to apply once for A Level programmes. After receiving your application form you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have a chance to discuss which specific A Level subjects you would like to enrol on.
