Overview

The course covers the whole range of motor vehicle engineering skills from routine maintenance to advanced repair techniques.

You will study modules in suspension, steering, tyres, brakes, clutches, assessing and securing roadside situations, materials, fabrication, tools and equipment, battery and components and exhaust components.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 1 vocational qualification and /or GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above including maths and English.

You can progress to a Level 3 course in either Vehicle Maintenance and Diagnostics or Accident Repair in Mechanical, Electrical and Trim Principles. 

You can also find employment within the automotive sector. 

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course. 

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances. Many people qualify for free tuition fees, for more information please contact Course Information on 01642 333333.

Motor Vehicle students will have access to our fully-equipped motor vehicle service unit which is based on main dealer standards. Here, they will gain practical skills in a wide variety of vehicles using up-to-date equipment and diagnostic tools and develop theoretical knowledge using custom built training rigs and interactive resources.
