The course is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in core domestic gas work and is a pre-requisite for all other gas assessments.

Yous must be category 1 or 2 and hold relevant qualifications.

  • Installation of Pipework and Fittings
  • Test for Soundness
  • Checking and/or Setting Meter Regulators
  • Identifications of Unsafe Situations
  • The Operation of and Positioning of Emergency Isolation Controls and Valves
  • Emergency Notices
  • Warning Labels
  • Checking and setting Appliance Burner Pressures and Gas Rates
  • The Operation and Checking of Appliance Gas Safety Devices and Controls
  • Flueing Standards / Flue Testing
  • Installation of Open, Balanced and Fan Assisted Flue Assemblies
  • Re-establish Existing Gas Supply and Relight Appliances

12 hours over 2 days assessment and up to 3 days training.

Monday-Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved gas category 1 or 2.

You will be assessed through a combination of written exams and practical assessments.

You can progress to complete the CENWAT, CKR1 and HTR 1.


Please note this course is full cost and therefore students are unable to get any fee remission.
