Overview

You must have an appropriate electrical qualifcation to enrol onto this course. We reserve the right to check qualifications for entry criteria to the course and cancel your enrolment with a full refund if there is no proof of certification.

This EAL qualification is a direct equivalent of the City and Guilds 2394 qualifications, but do not require a written exam to be undertaken.

This Award gives the learner an understanding of the theory and practice of initial verification and certification of both single and three phase electrical installations. The qualification follows BS 7671 and the industry recognised IET Guidance Note 3, as well as the Electrical Safely Council.

The qualification has one unit which covers the necessary learning outcomes for initial verification. Learners will cover safe isolation, inspection, safe testing, pre-energised and energised tests, documentation and the practical use of test equipment.

Entry requirements

No formal entry requirements. However it is a mandatory requirement that candidates have previous electrical experience of electrical installation work and must have achieved their 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.

The assessment involves one on-screen open book exam (IET GN3) and practical assessments covering initial inspection, earth fault loop impedance testing, insulation resistance testing, and commissioning of a three phase rig.
