Overview

This course will involve a mixture of practical and theoretical sessions to establish underpinning knowledge and understanding of welding activities.

The qualifications you will be studying through the year are, the City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations and the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Welding).

  • Producing Plate Work Components and Assemblies
  • Welding by MMA
  • MIG and TAG Process
  • Fabricating Steelwork Assemblies
  • Safe Working Practices
  • Communicating Technical Information

2 evenings a week, 6pm-9pm.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved 4 GCSE at grade 3 (D) or above including maths, English language & science or Level 1 Welding.

You will be assessed through practical assessments and online/paper based multiple choice examinations.

You will have the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 programme or a gain employment as a Level 3 apprentice in the field of welding.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course. 

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

You only need to apply once for A Level programmes. After receiving your application form you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have a chance to discuss which specific A Level subjects you would like to enrol on.
