You will develop a broad understanding of business activity and focus on the influence of human resource management in contemporary organisations. You also investigate and work with local employers to expand and apply your knowledge in a practical setting.

Your knowledge and understanding provides a platform for you to develop your future career and academic plans, and you gain the opportunity to showcase your skills to potential employers.

Successful students may choose to progress to the BA (Hons) Business, a one year top-up programme also delivered at the college, to gain a full honours degree award.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved 48 UCAS tariff points from an appropriate Level 3 qualification (NVQ 3, BTEC Award or A Level) as well as possessing GCSE or equivalent 9-4 (A*-C) in English and in maths.

Non-standard applicants for both full and part time modes of study will be considered based on individual merit and industrial experience relevant to the programme.

Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, tutorials and guest speakers. You are taught by a team of dedicated staff with a range of expertise.

Links with businesses are used to provide a strong practical base to the course.

You are expected to commit approximately 15 hours a week to independent study in preparation for teaching sessions and assessments.

You will be assessed through coursework designed to provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to meet the learning outcomes of the programme. To support you, a variety of assessment methods are used to enhance the experience as well as to help you develop key transferable skills.

If you are a part-time student, you are supported to complete work based projects in your workplace.
