The range of opportunities within the social and public sector are not fully known and understood amongst the graduate population.This course offers you the opportunity to explore the sector further. The course addresses your needs and interests in the social and public sector, with a view to gaining employment in this area.

The focus of the course will be to provide a basis for you to explore the range of employment opportunities presented by the biggest employer in the region (the social and public sector). In addition the programme will provide a broad underpinning in social science and policy.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appopriate qualification at Level 5 (a foundation degree or equivalent).

This course requires a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service).

Teaching methods will include lectures, seminars, tutorials, industry guest speakers and visits to work settings.

You will plan visits to a range of settings related to the social and public sector, and connected to your own areas of specialist interest.

In addition to the above, you are expected to commit to approximately 25 hours a week of independent study in preparation for teaching sessions and preparing for and completing assessment.

You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods to enhance the experience as well as develop key transferable skills. This includes essays, presentations, research tasks, projects and case studies.

Fees payable directly to Middlesbrough College, £8,500 per year.
