You will learn how to create music using digital audio workstations (DAWs) and how to create a musical product in a studio environment individually and as part of a team.

You will practice and develop skills in recording different instruments and sound sources and how to create high quality studio mixes.

You will also develop a strong knowledge of the history of different genres and the context in which they were formed.

Your music theory knowledge will also be developed, allowing you to further your compositional skills.

Overall the Access to HE (Music) will give you a broad range of music and music technology skills that will allow you to move on to an undergraduate degree in music,
music technology and audiovisual technology, as well as a strong skill set to work with music in the industry.

Entry requirements

You must provide two suitable references and be working at a Level 2 in English and maths.

This course is 100% assignment based.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course. 

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances. 

Level 3 Entitlement: If you are aged 19 - 23 on the start date of the course and this is your first full Level 3 qualification the course is free. Advanced Learner Loan: If you are aged 19-23 and this is not your first full Level 3 qualification or you are aged 24 or over on the start date of the course, you will have to pay fees. However, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to fund all or part of the fee. For information on Advanced Learning Loans go to www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans/.

The Advanced Learner Loan will not be repayable by students who progress into Higher Education and complete their degree.
