Entry requirements

You must provide two suitable references and ideally be working at Level 2 in English and maths.

The qualification is assessed through work-based evidence compiled as a portfolio.

It is assessed through practical assignments and observations.

This qualification will provide you with a range of transferable skills so that you can progress onto a range of our HE courses.

Past students have progressed onto our BSc (Hons) Estate Design, Development and Management programme because of its strong focus on design skills. After completing this degree you are well equipped to pursue a career in design, housing, construction, estate management, project management, social and urban renewal.

Some students have also progressed onto our foundation degree in Business (Human Resource Management) or (Marketing and Enterprise) and have then completed the top-up degree.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course. 

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances. 

Level 3 Entitlement: If you are aged 19 - 23 on the start date of the course and this is your first full Level 3 qualification the course is free. 

Advanced Learner Loan: If you are aged 19-23 and this is not your first full Level 3 qualification or you are aged 24 or over on the start date of the course, you will have to pay fees. However, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to fund all or part of the fee. For information on Advanced Learning Loans go to www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans/

The Advanced Learner Loan will not be repayable by students who progress into Higher Education and complete their degree.

Please note any fee shown excludes any additional costs to learners for any necessary equipment, materials, uniforms or any visit/residential that learners are required to participate in.

Explore Creative Arts

As a creative arts student, you'll benefit from Middlesbrough College's great facilities and high quality equipment and materials. This includes a photography studio and darkroom, large Apple iMac suite, spacious workshops and print and textiles studio. Students get involved in a range of projects to develop their creative skills including fashion shows, designing posters for theatre performances and the end of year art show.
