The construction industry is an exciting and dynamic sector which is constantly changing and developing. The construction industry is continually looking for a range of skilled and professional people.

This course concentrates on the professional and technical aspects of construction and the built environment, developing the skills, knowledge and understanding required to study and work within this varied industry.

  • Design, Planning and Regulations
  • Construction and Design Drawing Techniques and CAD

September - June

Entry requirements

You must have achieved five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including Maths and English Language. You may also need certain grades for your chosen subjects.

You will be assessed through projects, assignments, practical activities, coursework and presentations.

Two externally marked exams will need to be taken in January and May.

On successful completion of this course progression routes could include the HNC Construction and the Built Environment and other higher education courses which can lead to employment in the following areas, architecture, civil engineering, civil engineering with disaster management, quantity surveying, building surveying and project management.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

You only need to apply once for A Level programmes. After receiving your application form you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have a chance to discuss which specific A Level subjects you would like to enrol on.
