This course allows you to study the many components that make up this dynamic and ever changing industry. You will gain an understanding of the importance of effective marketing and customer service. You will also explore the travel and tourism sector, the UK as destination and European destinations.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including Maths and English Language. You may also need certain grades for your chosen subjects.

You will be assessed using a range of assessment methods including assignments, presentations, groups work.

This qualification will provide you with a range of transferable skills so that you can progress onto a range of our HE courses.

Past students have progressed onto our foundation degrees in Travel and Aviation and Airport and Airline Management and have then progressed to complete a relevant top-up degree offered at Middlesbrough College. After completing the degree you will be well equipped to pursue a career as a holiday representative, tour manager, tourism officer, tourist information centre manager, travel agency manager, customer service manager, event manager, hotel manager, marketing executive and outdoor education manager.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

You will not have to pay tuition fees if you are under 19 on 31 August in the year of your entry to the course. You must also satisfy UK / EEA residency rules. If you are over 19 or have any questions regarding residency rules, please contact (01642) 333587.

Please click the apply now button at the top of this page which will take you to an application form to apply for A Levels, or you can download a full time course application here and print it out, complete the form and send it to the College. You only need to apply once for A Level programmes. After receiving your application form you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have a chance to discuss which specific A Level subjects you would like to enrol on.
